C. McMILLAN & Co. Ltd./> AUCKLAND <, Type E 98mm

Researching the name of C. McMILLAN & Co. Ltd. on a NZ Type E cast opener (registration for Type E's was in 1924)...

In National Library of New Zealand's Papers Past, there are many advertisements for "G" McMillan and Co. Ltd, Auckland, who appear to have been agents for imported whiskey e.g.,

New Zealand Herald, Volume LXI, Issue 18712, 19 May 1924, Page 6

New Zealand Herald, Volume LXII, Issue 19119, 10 September 1925, Page 8

And wine and spirit merchants...

NZ Truth , Issue 1247, 24 October 1929, Page 9

Also, there are crown cap bottles with "G McMillan & Co Auckland" on them....the G apparently standing for George.

An image of the G. McMillan & Co. Ltd, Auckland building in 1928 can be seen at the Auckland libraries web site here (from the Sir George Grey Special Collections, Auckland Libraries, 4-5658'). G McMillan & Co Ltd were on Customs Street and the nearby Eden Crescent was well known for aerated waters businesses.

The question is, why does the cast opener have "C" McMillan and Co Ltd Auckland....was it a simple mistake with the casting (should it really have been G?) or was there another company or a later version of the same company really with the name of C McMillan and Co Ltd Auckland? Any feedback appreciated.
