McEwan's Pale Ale bottle openers have been found in both the UK and in NZ. Both McEwan's/Export Ale C, 85mm and McEwan's/Pale Ale C2, 86mm vintage cast iron bottle openers have been found in NZ and generally it has been assumed that they arrived in that country with settlers. However, it is interesting to see the following advertisement, which suggests that McEwan's Pale Ale was exported to NZ. So, there is the possibility that the openers were sent along with the product as advertising. Any further information about McEwan's Pale Ale in NZ would be appreciated.

This pic is from New Zealand
This pic is from New Zealand's Dominion newspaper of 1913 with advertising saying "McEwan's Ale has the Largest Sale Throughout the World" and "Obtainable at All Hotels". Also shows that imports of McEwan's was huge in Australia. (Should be some openers found in Aussie also?).

McEWAN'S/EXTRA STOUT C2 87mm
Another example of a McEwan's cast iron opener, advertising Extra Stout. There is evidence of McEwans Extra Stout being sent to Australia in 1875, but no other information could be found on this particular product in Australasia. Presumably the Extra Stout was primarily for the UK domestic market?
